The Feroze Ghadially and J. Allan Tucker Awards

The Society for Ultrastructural Pathology has established the Feroze Ghadially and J. Allan Tucker Awards for either a platform or a poster presentation that are based on an ultrastructural study or use of electron microscopy to a major extent, and which is judged to be the most outstanding during the biennial UltraPath meetings.

Each award is for $500 and is open to any individual in training (including residents; fellows; medical students; or postdoctoral, graduate, or undergraduate students) in an accredited training program who has submitted an abstract that is accepted for presentation.  Winning abstract(s) will be included in the Society for Ultrastructural Pathology Newsletter. Arrangements also have been made to submit the contents of the presentation for publication in the journal Ultrastructural Pathology.

The two awards are named in honor of Dr. Feroze Novroji Ghadially and Dr. Joseph Allan Tucker for their long time support of and contributions to the Society for Ultrastructual Pathology and for their dedication to the field of investigation and teaching. The Ghadially Award was established at the 2013 United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) meeting; the Tucker Award was established at the 2014 USCAP meeting.  In previous years, these awards were presented as the “Pathologist in Training Award”, and subsequently, have been broadened to include any type of student in training at an accredited institution.

Ghadially and Tucker Award Application Guidelines

Eligibility Requirements

• The abstract must be accepted for presentation at the poster session of the UltraPath meeting.
• The first author must be an individual in training (including residents; fellows; medical students; or postdoctoral, graduate, or undergraduate students).

Materials to be Submitted

• Abstract (this is the same format as the abstract for the UltraPath general submission).
• Application cover letter stating that the abstract should be considered for the Ghadially or Tucker Award. Please include your name, level of training, institution, mailing address, daytime phone number, fax number, and email address.
• Letter from your faculty mentor, residency or graduate director, department head, or meeting program chair validating your status in a training program.

Methods of Submission

• The abstract(s) and application cover letter can be forwarded by fax or email.
• Use regular mail or scanned letter with signature sent via email attachment to send the validation letter.
• If the validation letter is not received before the deadline for entries, your abstract will not be considered.

Winner Notification

Winners will be notified by email. An announcement will follow on the SUP website.
